The holiday is such a fun one to decorate and get into the spirit of, however if you are feeling a pinch in your wallet, like so many of us are, it is easy to put decorating off.

But, decorating for Halloween definitely does not have to cost a fortune. In fact, there are plenty of fun and creepy ways to make your house look spooktacular for all of your little guests on October 31st! Check out these fun and easy low-cost Halloween decoration ideas.

  • The Great Pumpkin

Pumpkins make a wonderful decoration. For just a few dollars, you can make something funny or really creepy by painting or carving your pumpkin. If you are looking for a more elegant Halloween decoration, you can mix and match multiple pumpkins in an arrangement on your porch or front yard. Look for different sizes and styles to spice up your arrangement.

  • Creepy Crawlers

Nothing can evoke fears and creepiness like the simplicity of a home covered in cobwebs and spiders. This is such a cheap decoration – for under three dollars you should be able to cover your home with multiple large spider webs and strategically placed eight-legged critters. Great places to spread these cotton cobwebs are near any outdoor lights and windows. It is especially fun to cover the area near your door and include this spider infested web over the doorbell for extra screams from trick-or-treaters. Spiders are Spider Webs with spiders

  • Scarecrow

Scarecrows are an oldie and goodie when it comes decorating for Halloween and the season for that matter, plus it can be super cheap! Simply find some old work clothes and stuff them old towels or newspaper and use straw or hay sparingly around its hands, feet and neck. Use a balloon and an oversized cowboy hat or trucker hat to hide its face. It could also be fun, to have the scarecrow out before Halloween and then actually have someone pretend to be he scarecrow on Halloween and give the older trick-or-treaters a scare!

  • Colored Lights

If you are looking for a simple way to spread some Halloween cheer, consider using Halloween lights in black and orange. This is a great way to get some good coverage of the holiday colors. It can also be a lot of fun to replace your driveway lights and porch light with black lights. This will give your home an eerie glow.

  • Scary Ghosts

Howling ghosts are another fun way to decorate for the season, although it may be a little difficult to get the actual howling part – but the ghost is pretty simple. Simply take an old white sheet and cut it into multiple squares (as big as you want your ghosts to be). Then stuff the head with anything, newspaper, toilet paper, whatever and wrap a small rubber band around it. Now it is time to take a black sharpie and draw in the eyes and mouth – use small circles for the eyes and an oval for the howling mouth. Take a needle and fishing line and thread the head of the ghosts and they are ready to hang in your tree and anywhere else you prefer.
